Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has opened up about the Betway Premiership title race if his side happen to beat Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers are currently at the summit of the league standings with 38 points accumulated from the 16 matches they have played so far.
The second-placed Sundowns have 32 points after 15 matches this season.
The two sides face off in a crucial league clash on Wednesday, 18 February, at the FNB Stadium. Next week, they will take on their fierce rivals, Chiefs, in the Soweto derby at the same venue.
With many saying that if Pirates beat both Chiefs and Sundowns they would have sealed the league title, Ouaddou said they will not count their chickens before they hatch.
”I’ll answer you with a one French saying that we don’t have to sell the bear’s skin before the bear is killed,” said Ouaddou, meaning that they must not count on an outcome before it has actually materialised.
“We play games after games, we know exactly what we want, we know which target we want to reach.
“But we don’t have to think about what happened in three, four months. We just have one vision.
“We need to go step by step, it’s very important to get much by much.”
