Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised Golden Arrows mentor Manqoba Mngqithi following their recent league encounter.
The French-Moroccan coach was speaking to the journalists following Pirates’ 3-1 victory over Abafana Bes’thende in the Betway Premiership last Wednesday.
Ouaddou hailed Mngqithi as one of the best coaches that the continent has, revealing that he has been following his work for a long time.
He also praised the Arrows side, acknowledging the tough challenge they posed in last week’s league meeting.
“I know the quality of a coach he is; he’s one of the best African coaches that we have on the continent,” said Ouaddou.
“I was following him for the long time. I like the way he’s working and how he thinks about football.”
Mngqithi has been with the KZN side since March this year, joining the club after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns towards the end of last year.
This is his third stint with Abafana Bes’thende having coached the team from 2007 to 2010 and again from 2012 to 2013.
Under his guidance, the KZN side has shown significant improvement. They reached the Carling Knockout Cup semi-final before being eliminated by Marumo Gallants this past weekend.
