Phuti Hails Riveiro Achievements

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe has hailed his Orlando Pirates counterpart Jose Riveiro for his achievements and contribution to the local game.

Mohafe’s comments come at the back of Pirates’ confirmation that the Spaniard will be leaving them at the end of the current campaign. Riveiro signed a three-year contract with Pirates in 2022 and in his tenure, he has bagged five domestic cups while he is still in contention for league honours, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League.

Mohafe was asked after his side’s 1-0 loss to Pirates at the old Peter Mokaba stadium and he said the 49-year-old has done a massive job.

“Even though that is out of my league I can say he has done a massive job there,” said Mohafe.

“Winning six or five cups in three seasons is not a child’s play. Winning a cup every season is not a child’s play. So, he has contributed massively into our league”.
