Orlando Pirates and Chippa United have announced their starting lineups for tonight’s Betway Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium.
Both sides kick off their league campaign with the Buccaneers having already been competitive in two competitions. They have qualified for a third successive MTN8 final and are on the brink of making the CAF Champions League group stages after beating Jwaneng Galaxy 2-0 in the away leg.
Meanwhile, United will play their first competitive match of the new term since May 2024, and have had to play friendlies during the offseason to keep fit.
The Chilli Boys brought in a couple of new faces including former Pirates captain Andile Jali who has vowed to the club’s fans that there will be a new-look Chippa side this season.
Kwanele Kopo will spearhead Chippa after being announced as head coach in July and will be assisted by Thabo September as the pair look to cause a rare upset eSgodini.
Pirates hold a superior advantage in the 23 times they have faced Chippa. Jose Riveiro’s charges have won 16 ties compared to Chippa’s four wins. Three outings have ended in stalemates.
