Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has encouraged Patrick Maswanganyi after his penalty miss in their 3-0 win over Chippa United.
Ouaddou seems to have overcome his early-season wobble at Pirates after booking a place in the MTN8 final and managing three successive league wins.
Pirates scored five goals without conceeding in the last three league games to move up to fifth place on the log following a below-par start to the season with two defeats.
In their 3-0 win over Chippa, Maswanganyi opened the scoring inside 10 minutes, and had a chance to complete a brace in the 50th minute but his penalty was saved by Nigerian International Stanley Nwabali.
Ouaddou, though, insisted it can happen to anyone in football, and praised him for his overall display.
“It can happen in football,” he told journalists after the match.
“What you can say to a player who was fantastic, who had a fantastic performance?
“It can happen, I just encourage him to keep believing in himself and to keep working hard in order to achieve the best season for him. It’s football.”
