The starting line-ups for today’s top-of-the-table Betway Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium have been announced.
It’s been one month and eight days since Pirates got hammered by Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium by 4-1. The Buccaneers will have to get revenge today, as it could also give them a chance to keep the title race alive.
The Soweto giants collected seven points out of a possible 15 in their last five games – losing to Sundowns and Marumo Gallants before playing a goalless draw against Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town.
Pirates though could cut the gap on Sundowns from 18 to 15 with four games in hand, or Masandawana could go 21 points clear.
Tshwane giants have been in massive form, collecting 13 points out of a possible 15. Masandawana are the highest scoring team in the league with 50 points and the least conceeding team with 12 goals.
Their good season has been proven by the number of players (9) they have in the Bafana Bafana squad, which was named by Hugo Broos a few days ago.
Sundowns last lost a league match against Bucs five years ago when they lost 1-0 at Orlando Stadium. Since then, Sundowns have enjoyed eight wins, and two matches ended as draws.
