Pitso Backs Komphela To Succeed After Sundowns Exit

Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has backed Steve Komphela to succeed after his surprise move to Swallows FC.

Komphela’s exit as First Team Coach at Sundowns was confirmed on Sunday morning as he took over the head coach role at the Dube Birds.

He’s set to lead the side with Musa Nyatama and Ditheko Mototo alongside him as assistants and Mosimane bid him good luck via social media.

“Yes, my Coach. You have the ability, mentality and broad shoulders to adapt and succeed. Trust the process and the outcome will sort itself [out],” he wrote.

“Don’t look any further, Gavin Hunt is a very good example, you are also surrounded by great personalities David Mogashoa and [Phanyaza] Lesufi.

“Fear nothing, Go tla siama. That’s what my mother-in-law always tells me, every time I take a new challenge. Up the Birds, Swallows.”

Komphela returns to the dugout as head coach in the DStv Premiership for the first time since leaving Golden Arrows in 2020, ironically as part of the new-look coaching staff that replaced Mosimane upon his move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
