Veteran South African coach Pitso Mosimane has shared his thoughts on coach Sinethemba Badela, following the latter’s recent dismissal from Durban City.
The 36-year-old tactician was shown the exit door after a brief spell in charge of the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, having overseen just three matches. During that period, Badela recorded two victories and suffered a single defeat.
Badela had been appointed head coach in December, at a time when the Africa Cup of Nations was underway in Morocco.
It is understood that the club felt the process of instilling Badela’s new style of play would require more time for the players to fully adapt, particularly given the challenges associated with the second round of the campaign.
Mosimane, one of the most respected figures in African football, has since come out strongly in support of Badela. Praising his ability and potential, Mosimane stated that South African football should “preserve and nurture” the young coach.
He further revealed that he had spent an entire day with Badela, engaging in discussions about football, and was left deeply impressed.
“This Coach, is very talented, I see something special in him,” he said on X.
“South Africa must preserve and nurture its own talent. I spent a full day with him in Bloemfontein and I was very impressed with him.”
