PUMA Snap Up Bafana Bafana Duo

Bafana Bafana stars Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi and Rushwin Dortley have joined the PUMA South Africa family.

Maswanganyi, 26, is currently one of the finest midfielders in the country, starring as the lead playmaker at Orlando Pirates, where he joined last season from SuperSport United.

The former Stars of Africa Academy midfielder also spent some time abroad in Portugal before returning home but it was his debut season at the Buccaneers that steered him into the limelight as he scored 10 goals with 12 assists in 40 games across all competitions.

“I have joined the PUMA Family because the brand has given me an amazing opportunity to enhance my personal performance and capabilities,” he said.

“PUMA’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and design matches my values, goals and ambitions. I’m excited to represent a brand that thrives to push me to be better.”

Brett Bellinger, PUMA SA Marketing Director, said: “Tito’s style of play resonates with our brand ethos – brave, confident, determined, and joyful.

“He plays for one of the biggest club teams in SA and is a national team player with massive potential to push football culture forward.”

Added to the Maswanganyi deal, Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana defender Ruswhin Dortley who has long been touted as one of the stars of South African football has steadily made his rise to prominence, having made a lucrative transfer to Amakhosi in the off-season.

The Cape Town Spurs academy product has emerged as one of the first names on the team sheet in Hugo Broos’ squad with several consistent displays and often being described as a ‘Rolls Royce’ defender due to his technical ability and crisp passing style.

“I signed with PUMA because it is a renowned sports brand with a rich history in football having been associated with legendary players like Pele, Maradona, and Jomo Sono,” the 22-year-old who is expected to be part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad said.

“Rushwin is confident, brave, and plays with a maturity beyond his years. He also displays a style of leadership which matches our brand values,” said Bellinger.

“By playing for one of the Soweto giants as well as representing the national team, he is perfectly placed to drive brand visibility.”
