Despite naysayers doubting his ability, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners has revealed that his hard work last season all bowed down to self-belief.
Rayners finished as the second top goalscorer in the league with 14 goals, just two shy of his fellow strike partner Lucas Ribeiro as they clinched an unprecedented eight successive Betway Premiership season.
The former Stellenbosch marksman isn’t worried about those who did not give him a chance to succeed at a star-studded Masandawana outfit.
“Yeah, obviously, a lot of people did not believe in me,” he said on the Pitchside Podcast.
“I always believe in myself and the coaches, so even the players.
“So, my first season I was happy to be here at the club and doing my best that’s all.”
