Orlando Pirates star player Relebohile Mofokeng’s father Sechaba has opened up about his son’s spirituality saying he uses football to further his purpose.
Mofokeng Jnr has been on an upward trajectory since being promoted from Pirates’ development ranks two seasons ago. He has gone on to be a vital part of the side’s attack in topflight helping them to five domestic trophies, last season’s CAF Champions League semis and Nedbank Cup final while also breaking into the Bafana Bafana fold.
The winger has also been described as a humble kid with his father telling iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 209 of the newspaper, that his 20-year-old son uses God as his guide on this journey.
“He said to me – ‘I want to pursue my calling, my purpose’,” revealed Mofokeng Sr to iDiski Times.
“He’s deeply spiritual. He says football is his gift, but God is his guide. He goes to church whenever he gets the chance. And not just one church, this Sunday he can go with me, the next one with you to your church and then with his friend or uncle.”
