Stellenbosch FC‘s new signing Lesiba Nku will don jersey number seven after completing his permanent switch from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The winger finally moved to the Cape Winelands outfit on transfer deadline day and will now wear the number seven jersey previously made famous by former captain Dean van Rooyen who signed for Orlando Pirates in August 2024.
Van Rooyen racked up 134 appearances, scoring three goals and providing eight assists before making the big money move to the Buccaneers.
Stellies CEO Rob Benadie also took time to welcome the 28-year-old to the club, admitting that they had been closely monitoring him for quite some time.
“Lesiba is a player we have admired for some time, and we are excited to bring him to Stellenbosch FC,” Benadie told the club’s website.
“His arrival underpins our commitment to strengthening the team with players of the highest calibre and I have no doubt that his quality will add a new dimension to our attacking options.”

Nku will also link up with a familiar face at Stellies, defender Ismael Toure, with the duo having played together at Marumo Gallants.
He is already earmarked to make his debut for Steve Barker’s side in this coming weekend’s Betway Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United.
