Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was left impressed by debutant Thuso Moleleki in their come-from-behind 2-1 win over Chippa United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Buccaneers from Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Orbit College in June 2024, and made a cameo appearance for the Buccaneers, coming on for Relebohile Mofokeng in the 66th minute.
Though Riveiro admitted that they did not utilize him to his fullest as they were chasing the winning goal, he believes that Moleleki would play an integral part going forward.
“He’s a talent player, that’s why he’s in the squad,” Riveiro told reporters in his post-match presser.
“He proved it in the last seasons. That’s why there’s proof that talent, that numbers that he produced in the previous teams, previous seasons, that’s why he’s involved.
“He’s doing well in the trainings, working hard that’s why he’s frequently in our 20.
“Today we understood that it was a good moment for him to come in, to contribute, to show his capacity to play between lines.
“To play forward, to turn quick, to play agressive close to the box. We didn’t find him so much as much as I would like it.
“But I’m sure he’s a player who will help us like every other in the squad,” Riveiro added.
