Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro is asking for patience on recently promoted defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi as he identified him as an interesting prospect for the future.
Mbokazi has been captaining Pirates’ DDC side since the start of the season and showed the qualities of leadership at the back before being handed his senior debut against Chippa United in a 1-0 win.

Since then, he never looked back as he played against SuperSport United and scored in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal and kept a clean sheet against Stellenbosch in Cape Town.
Mbokazi is following in the footsteps of Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota, who both became regulars of the first team after they were given an opportunity by Riveiro.
The Spanish mentor pleaded with Pirates supporters to be patient with the 19-year-old as he is still new and already getting more attention.

“I know that the boy is attracting a lot of attention because he is the new kid on the block, he is performing well, he is giving us some good things,” Riveiro told the media.
“We have to be patient with him because he is just starting his career in professional football, and its gonna be up and down for sure now.
“But we need to all of us as a club, the fans as well be patient with him but it’s clearly an interesting prospect for the future.”
