Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has responded to questions whether he thinks Manqoba Mngqithi will stay at the Masandawana.
Mokwena has been the sole head coach of the club since October when Steve Komphela was promoted to be First Team Coach and Mngqithi’s role changed from co-head coach to Senior Coach, the position previously occupied by Steve Komphela.
The club has since gone on an incredible winning streak, with Mokwena collecting 10 wins in his first 10 DStv Premiership matches in charge, while the club had also won the four leagues matches before the technical team changes took place.
With Manqoba’s current Sundowns contract believed to be coming to an end in June, Mokwena was now asked whether he believes the 51-year-old will remain at the club next season.
“I don’t know,” he responded when asked by Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified.
“I would presume that everybody is staying because everyone wants to be at the football club, including myself.
“I would think that for as much as he wants to be at the football club, he has a warm and very safe space at Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club because of his loyalty and contribution for the football club.
“Maybe I speak out of position that is not mine, but I would presume that he is happy, that’s why we see him every single day because he wants to be there and because he wants to make a contribution.
“And I would think that for everybody that wants to be at the football club, there’s always a spot at the family.”
