Seema Seems To Throw Jibe At Truter

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema appeared to throw a jibe at the club’s former coach Brandon Truter, saying he found the team not in a good state when he took over last month.

Seema was appointed as Sekhukhune coach on 20 November after Truter was left in the cold after the poor results.

In five matches since the former Orlando Pirates defender was appointed, Babino Noko has won two, drew once, and lost two, including the 1-0 league loss to AmaZulu at King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.

“I’m at Sekhukhune right through and through,” said Seema.

“I have travelled 16 hours with this team, too, and from now we are trying to have that balance, and one thing I must compliment the team, I don’t think this team was in the best state [when I arrived].

“The depth is there; we have been rotating players since match number one in Morocco [when Sekhukhune lost 2-0 to RS Berkane] until today.

“The results that are coming – you’d say it is a mix of results having lost two, but there are a lot of positives that are happening because there is not a lot of training that we are doing, it is a lot of trying to recuperate, trying to nurse, making sure that the players are getting massages, lot of analysis.”

Against Usuthu on Wednesday, Seema rotated his squad to keep them fresh as they face Stade Malien Bamako of Mali on Wednesday next week.

He left out Badra Ali Sangare, Chibuike Ohizu, and Kamohelo Mokotjo, though the latter came in the second half as Seema was chasing the game where they were not far off.

As the former Golden Arrows coach has lamented little time to train the team because of the congested schedule, these eight days of rest will go a long way to know his side.

However, playing so many games, Seema is something that he likes.

“Playing a lot of games, I think in football, you can rectify as soon as possible,” said Seema.

“We are not complaining that we are playing games, because that is how you gain experience, and you can see the character of these guys – they are fighting.

“Playing away against a good side like AmaZulu, one day playing like this we will get a win. We are slowly getting there but I’m enjoying my time.”

Meanwhile, Seema confirmed that Linda Mntambo, who is the club’s captain and has not played this season, is still in rehab but “he has started running on the field, I have seen him put on some boots and I don’t think he has is that far off.”
