Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has revealed the red-hot form of captain Linda Mntambo is based on everyone in the team doing their jobs.
The midfielder has been instrumental for Babina Noko since his return from a long injury lay off.
He has contributed six league goals in as many matches, four of his own in the three successive games, including a brace against Cape Town City on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old has helped his side rise to third spot on the DStv Premiership log with 34 points, just four points behind second-placed Stellenbosch FC, who they meet on the weekend.
Seema insisted that Figo is thriving because the whole team is working hard, and he’s pleased that he’s raising his hand to help the team.
“He’s part of the team, he knows for him to get such balls [it] shows that there are people who have marked behind him,” said Seema.
“He knows he’s got the wall behind him. He’s a team player, he understands. We are happy.
“It’s always good to have a player that’s on form and when the chips are down or when we are playing well, he comes up and lifts his hand.
“So we are happy but I don’t want to single out anyone because I think today everybody battled and we were just unlucky, and I understand why to an extend that it was bound to happen.
“They [Cape Town City] really pushed us hard, they have youngsters that have got a lot of energy and even now we are going to play Stellenbosch.
“We trained, we sit and we meet at the airport and we leave because these games are coming thick and fast. And we are having a very tight schedule with the teams we are playing having a lot of intensity and speed.”
