Chippa United co-coach Thabo September has opened up on the relationship between the coaches and the club Technical Director Morgan Mammila who has been spotted sitting on the bench since the season resumed.
A few months back, Chippa appointed Vusumuzi Vilakazi as the club’s Technical Director and he was sitting on the bench alongside then coach Mammila.
After Vilakazi resigned at Chippa, citing personal reasons before joining Richards Bay, the Technical Director position was left vacant.
But in January, after the club had won just one of their previous nine games, the club reshuffled their technical team, with Mammila being moved to the TD role, while Thabo September and Kwanele Kopo were appointed as co-coaches.
September has now explained that they have a good relationship with Mammila after the former coach was spotted sitting on the bench again.
“We have a very good relationship, respect the space, respect each other. He is actually the one recommended us to come through to the club, so we bounce ideas of each other,” September told the media.
“Our working relationship is very good, and we thank the chairman of course to bring us here and working for this club.”
Chippa, who picked up five points under their new coach since the resumption of the league and also progressed in the Nedbank Cup, will next face Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.
