Chippa United midfielder Tshepo ‘Skhwama’ Matete is likely to leave the club at the end of the season without making an appearance.
Matete joined the Chilli Boys in January after a short stint with Tshakuma Tsha Mandzivhandila in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
But the Youtube sensation who rose to prominence for his outrageous showboating in local kasi games hasn’t made it to a match day squad for Chippa since he was unveiled in January.
With one game to go and relegation on the line for the Gqeberha-based side, it seems unlikely for him to make his debut.
According to iDiski Times sources, the club will decide after the last game of the season if they will keep him or not but it seems unlikely for him to stay there for another season.
“Skhwama has struggled to make it to the team. Maybe the change of coaches has affected him. He was signed when Morgan Mammila was here,” a source close to the club told this publication.
“There have been three coaches after Mammila maybe that affected him. He is unlikely to stay but the club will decide in the coming weeks.
Chippa United are sitting bottom of the league table with 29 points, level with 15th-placed Maruma Gallants and one behind Maritzburg United.
They need a win in their last game of the season against Lamontville Golden Arrows to avoid automatic relegation, while a draw would put them above Maritzburg and defeat would seal their fate.
