Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed their starting line-ups for the Tshwane Derby in the DStv Premiership clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium this evening.
Matsatsantsa had a chance twice to go top of the table but dropped the ball on both occasions. United come into this game at the back of two consecutive losses in two different competitions.
They lost to Sekhukhune United before losing to Egyptian side Modern Future FC in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Gavin Hunt and his side are the last side to defeat Sundowns in the league and that was in September 2022. A win for United will send them top.
Meanwhile, Sundowns were recently crowned the African Football League champions after defeating Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club. Downs also started the CAF Champions League campaign on a high beating FC Nouadhibou 3-0.
It’s been a year since Masandawana last lost a league match and that was against Matsatsantsa.
Rulani Mokwena and his side have a chance also to make in nine out of nine wins in a row in the 2023/24 campaign, which would be a league record-extending run.
These two sides have faced each other on 50 occasions, Downs won 28 times, lost 12 and 10 draws between the city rivals.
