Barker Targets Win Over High-Flying Arrows

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker is aiming to end a three-match winless run when they face Lamontville Golden Arrows this afternoon.

Stellies is one team that needed the international break after going three matches without a win.

The Cape Winelands side has had a tough last two matches after receiving red cards in both matches.

Barker wants nothing less than three points against Arrows who recently parted ways with head coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi.

The last time Stellies went more than three matches without a win was when they went nine matches winless last season.

“Preparations have gone well. It was a good break that we had and this week has seen a lot of energy and commitment from the players,” Barker said.

“We want to get back to winning ways and it’s important for us, after the last two league losses, to bounce back with a good performance that will put us in a position to get maximum points. We’re going there with one mission and that is to win the game.”

Barker’s side enjoys the trip to KwaZulu Natal against Arrows as they haven’t lost to them since 2010. Between the two there have been four draws and a win for the Cape Winelands outfit.
