Sukazi: People Said I Brought A Plumber

TS Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi says he is not scared that he may lose his coach Sead Ramovic, if they win the Carling Knockout final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The organizational part of Ramovic’s Galaxy has seen Kaizer Chiefs fans saying its management should not look any further, as they are without a head coach and are led by an interim mentor in Cavin Johnson.

“No, we have no fear that we might lose our coach,” Sukazi told iDiski Times.

“With or without him winning the final, there is no fear at all.”

Ramovic, in his second full season with Galaxy and third overall, has taken Galaxy to the Carling Knockout final where they will meet tricky and dangerous Stellenbosch at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this coming weekend.

The Germany-born coach, who replaced Owen da Gama in October 2021, reached the final after beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the round of 16, then Polokwane City, and before beating AmaZulu last weekend in the semifinal at the 2010 World Cup venue in Durban.

Unlike Steve Barker’s side, it will be a second major cup final for Galaxy as they won the Nedbank Cup at the same venue when they beat Kaizer Chiefs in the 2018/19 season under Dan Malesela.

“If you go back to the recordings when I brought Sead in the country when no one knew him when journalists were asking me, ‘I brought a plumber, he never was a head coach anywhere’,” said Sukazi.

“This is his first job as a head coach. They asked me about a ‘plumber’ and I answered, I said, ‘The arrival of Sead Ramovic will prove to be a blessing to South African football’.

“I asked them to write it down and I told them they would thank me one day. You can go back to the recordings when I announced him.

“So, I’m not in fear.”

Incredibly, Ramovic has guided Galaxy to the final having seen the club lose Sphiwe Msimango to Kaizer Chiefs, Bathusi Aubass to Mamelodi Sundowns, Melusi Buthelezi to Orlando Pirates, Junior Traore to Turkish side Istanbulspor, Aphelele Teto to Scottish side Livingston, Tshegofatso Nyama to Cape Town City and Menzi Ndwandwe to Chippa United.

The 44-year-old, whose contract with Galaxy will expire in June next year, has overseen 74 matches – having won 23, lost 27, and drawn 24 in all competitions.

The Carling Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium will kick off at 15:00.
