Sundowns Beat AmaZulu To Extend Lead

Mamelodi Sundowns extended their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership standings after recording a 2-0 win over AmaZulu at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday night.

The first real chance fell to Jayden Adams in the 16th minute with a well-struck shot from just outside the box, but Veli Mothwa was up to the task.

Peter Shalulile missed a clear header at the far post after a cross from Lucas Ribeiro in the 22nd minute.

Mothwa produced a timeous save from Iqraam Rayners four minutes later after being played in by Teboho Mokoena.

In the 38th minute, Rayners again found himself behind the AmaZulu defence, but his first touch let him down as Mothwa rushed off his line to make a save.

Elmo Kambindu came close to grabbing the equalizer for Usuthu in the 77th minute but Mokoena produced a well-timed tackle.

AmaZulu were themselves to blame as Rowan Human missed the target from close range in the 80th minute.

It was game, set and match in the 87th minute as Arthur Sales slotted home from close range to make it 2-0 as the defending champions collected all maximum points.
