Mamelodi Sundowns have made it 50 games unbeaten in the DStv Premiership after beating Royal AM 1-0 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
Aubrey Modiba had the best chance of the first 20 minutes, but his shot sailed over the bar.
However, the newly-crowned DStv Premiership champions struggled to create too many chances, while Royal AM were waiting for chances on the counter but also failed to really threaten Denis Onyango’s goal.
In the beginning second half, it was Modiba again with the first chance, but this time his shot was saved by Nyame.
Thembinkosi Lorch set up Peter Shalulile in the 50th minute but his shot flew just over the bar.
Sundowns tried to find an opener and despite carving out a few opportunities, Royal AM managed to hold the league champions to a goalless draw up until the 85th minute.
But Shalulile made up for the earlier misses, scoring a flying header to secure the three points.
Rulani Mokwena’s moved to 66 points on the log and can still break the points record of 71 with four games left to play.
Meanwhile, Thwihli Thwahla remained on 29 points, five more than Richards Bay in the relegation/promotion playoff spot.
