Mamelodi Sundowns eased past Cape Town Spurs with a 3-0 win to extend their Premier Soccer League record in the DStv Premiership clash at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening.
Sipho Mbule got the scoring underway with a thunderous effort and just before the half-hour mark Grant Kekana doubled the advantage.
The much-changed Sundowns XI were purring with Thapelo Morena, Rushine de Rueck, Terrence Mashego, Sipho Mbule. Lebogang Maboe, Gaston Sirino and Abuki Nasir all earning starts.
And despite not being regulars this season they maintained the scintillating level of performances that saw them win all 11 games to start the 2023/24 league campaign.
Peter Shalulile, who was a second half substitute added a stoppage time third to add further gloss to the scoreline.
The win for Masandawana moves them eight points ahead of second-placed Cape Town Spurs with three games in hand, while Spurs’ plight continued with 13 defeats in their opening 14 games – and 12 points from safety.
