SuperSport Complete Double Over 10-Man Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to SuperSport United in a drama-filled Betway Premiership encounter at a rainy FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

It didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken as former Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic sneaked in behind the Chiefs defence to tap-in from close range in the third minute and make it 1-0 to the visitors.

In the 18th minute it should’ve been 2-0 for SuperSport when Ghampani Lungu beat Bruce Bvuma but Rushwin Dortley produced a goalline clearance to keep his side in the match.

Chiefs leveled matters in the 28th minute through in-form winger Glody Lilepo with a glancing header from Pule Mmodi’s cross to make it 1-1 for his third goal in four starts.

The equalizer however lasted just two minutes as another ex-Chiefs player in Christian Saile beat the offside trap to slot past an onrushing Bruce Bvuma for a 2-1 lead.

Tashreeq Morris missed a glorious chance to open his Chiefs account in the 60th minute shooting straight at Ricardo Goss.

Lungu finally got his goal in 63rd minute pouncing on a loose ball parried into play by Bvuma to make it 3-1.

It got from bad to worse for the home side when Gaston Sirino was sent for an early shower with 20 minutes to go for his second yellow card of the evening.

Nurkovic had the ball in the back of the net in the 75th minute but was rightfully flagged offside.

SuperSport increased the tally with five minutes left as Siphesihle Ndlovu curled it into the top corner to wrap it up.

Matsatsantsa held resolute at the back to complete a league double over Chiefs for just the fourth time in the PSL era and first time since the 2011/12 season.
