Swallows Players Will Be Paid For 14 Days

The recently dismissed Moroka Swallows players have received letters stating they will only be paid for 14 days, not for the entire month of December.

Swallows have been in the media in recent months not for good reasons, after they were found guilty by the Premier Soccer League for not honouring DStv Premiership matches against Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows in December.

The Birds were fined R1 million (R600,000 suspended for 24 months) on top of both games being ruled as walk-overs.

Last week in a letter seen by the media, the Birds dismissed 22 players. In the latest letter, the dismissed players have been asked to collect their clearances from the club general manager upon returning the club’s equipment.

In the letter it also stated that players will only be paid for 14 days in December.

It is unclear yet what will happen as the DStv Premiership is set to resume in two and a half weeks’ time.
