Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite believes Mduduzi Shabalala can rise to the occasion and make a mark in the upcoming Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers have won the last three derbies, and this campaign Pirates are having a better time than their rivals, sitting in second position on the Betway Premiership log with 27 points from 11 matches, while Amakhosi are fifth with 21 points from 14 encounters.

Mashamaite admitted to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 188 that the derby has been one-sided recently but believes that the 21-year-old midfielder has potential to seize the moment and prove he is just as good as other youngsters in the opposing side.
“You know in as much as we have seen the one-sidedness recently, it’s like we’re talking about this youngster Mduduzi,” Mashamaite told iDiski Times.
“If on the day, he says you know what, this is an occasion for me to show that I’m on the same level with these youngsters from Pirates, it can change the whole complexion of the derby. So it just offers you that space where one person can raise their hand, stake a claim and be remembered”.
“So I hope on that day Chiefs comes to the party because Pirates is doing well. So you would expect them to be favourites. So I hope Chiefs, on the day they rise to the occasion and make it something memorable”.
