Despite rumours linking the likes of Khanyisa Mayo and Mduduzi Mdantsane with a transfer, Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has stated the club wants to keep the squad together in the upcoming transfer window.
Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has stated that players will not be leaving Cape Town City in the upcoming transfer window, despite rumours linking the likes of Khanyisa Mayo and Mduduzi Mdantsane with a move.
Despite a lot of rumours around Khanyisa Mayo, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Thabo Nodada, City head coach Tinkler mentioned that the club’s intention is to keep the current squad and build on it.
Mayo has been heavily linked with the big three of South African football, while Mdantsane’s move to Amakhosi sounded all but agreed upon already a few weeks ago.
But when Tinkler was asked, if are there any players that might be playing for contracts, he boldly said everybody is staying and the club are looking to reinforce with one or two players.
“No, not really,” he stated.
“We’re looking to try and keep the squad that we currently have, we are looking to bring in one or two reinforcements just to strengthen us.
“But on the whole everybody is staying and I think we’re looking to build on what we have, I think we’ve used the most youngsters this season in the league, we [have] quite a young squad, you know, so it’s gonna take time.
“Hopefully next season we see them getting better the Jaedin [Rhodes], the ‘Balas’ [Taahir Goedeman], the youngsters, [Luphumlo] Sifumba and there are a couple of other youngsters that we also want to look to promote that we think have potential.”
City, who are currently in fifth place, have two more games outstanding – a home clash against Richards Bay on 13 May and an away trip to Kaizer Chiefs on the last day of the season.
