Tinkler Makes Strong Chiefs Claim

Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler highly praised Kaizer Chiefs after their 1-1 draw at New Peter Mokaba Stadium, stating that what you see on the league table is not a true reflection of Amakhosi.

Babina Noko extended their unbeaten run to six matches following a 1-1 draw against Chiefs. Even though they got a point Stellenbosch overtook them on the log after beating SuperSport United 2-1 to move into third place.

Meanwhile, Chiefs’ winless run extended to eight matches in the league and they remained in ninth place going into the last game.

United will go into the last league game hoping that they will beat struggling Lamontville Golden Arrows and Cape Town City can at least get a draw against Stellenbosch.

Tinkler emphasised that getting a point against Chiefs is something he is accepting, especially since they came to this game as champions of Nedbank Cup with high morale and the squad they have is not a true reflection of the league table.

“We had to make a couple of last ditch tackles to prevent them from scoring when you don’t take your chances then the game goes the way it goes,” Tinkler told SuperSport TV.

“I thought if we could get a second goal, we could at least kill the game off but was not to be. All to play for (in the last game).

“We didn’t lose today, we got a point against a team who obviously full of moral and confidence after the Nedbank Cup win.

“I think where they sitting in the league table is not the true story of the squad that they got and the brand of football they look to try and play.

“Last game of the season we have to go away from home which is not going to be easy against Arrowsand try collect maximum points.”
