Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has explained why he chose recently-retired defender Marc Van Heerden to be his assistant coach.
Tinkler has been appointed as the new head coach of Sekhukhune United and came with his former player Van Heerden as assistant coach. The two worked together at Cape Town City before Van Heerden retired.

The former Orlando Pirates coach says it’s important to have people who understand your style and playing philosophy, and Van Heerden also recently completed his first coaching badges.
“Marc is somebody that I have worked with,” Tinkler told the media.
“He is also now qualified, he got his UEFA B License he knows my playing philosophy, my style and what I want.
“And I think that is very important, Paulus [Masehe] obviously will learn, and he is someone I have known from his playing days.
“I think it’s always important to have people around you who understand the way you think as a coach and the way you want to play as a coach.”
Tinkler, though, suffered his first defeat at Babina Noko, going down 2-1 to Stellenbosch at New Peter Mokaba Stadium this past weekend.
