Tso Makes Zungu-Chiefs Claim

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi has discussed possible options for Bongani Zungu.

Zungu, 31, dropped a bombshell when he confirmed that he was leaving the seven-time DStv Premiership champions after their league and African Football League double triumphant campaign.

Tso admitted to being surprised by Zungu’s decision to leave The Brazilians, in his second stint, as he had impressed this past campaign. The 41-year-old is also of the belief that Zungu might be eyeing a move to the Gulf, and if that doesn’t transpire, Kaizer Chiefs could be an option as they need someone like him in midfield.

“I got disturbed a little on what pushed him to that point or maybe he’s going to go to the Arabs in Saudi Arabia,” Tso said on iDiski TV.

“That’s what came to my mind because I don’t think there’s really any team in South Africa that can convince him to leave Sundowns.

“Zungu, for me, if he can go to Chiefs, it will remind me of the likes of Donald ‘Ace’ Khuse in that midfield, Patrick Mbuthu, Thabo Mooki, you know ball players.

“If you look at midfielders that Chiefs have now, they don’t have a ball player. They don’t have a thinker.

“Zungu is a thinker, he’s good at marshalling the midfield, he’s not a hard tackler but he’s very smart to anticipate a move.”
