Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Asanele Velebayi has shared his perspective on why his side has, in the past, struggled against TS Galaxy, what many considered to be their “hoodoo team.”
Chiefs are set to take on their rivals in a crucial Betway Premiership encounter on Sunday, 12 April at the iconic FNB Stadium in Nasrec.

Amakhosi head into the clash with renewed confidence, aiming to extend their impressive three-match winning streak after showing signs of rediscovering their rhythm in recent fixtures.
With ambitions of securing a place in either the CAF Confederation Cup or CAF Champions League spots, every point for the Phefeni Glamour Boys at this stage of the season carries significant weight.
Reflecting on previous meetings, Velebayi acknowledged setbacks against the Rockets, suggesting that luck had perhaps not always been on Chiefs’ side in those encounters.
However, he remains optimistic, emphasising that the outcome of Sunday’s match will ultimately come down to hunger and which team shows the greater desire to win on the day.
“I think it all comes down to who wants it the most,” Velebayi told the Chiefs’ media department.
“So, I know we’re not in a bad run against them, but we always seem to be unlucky playing against them.
“But it always comes down to, I don’t know, I don’t want to say we’ve been lacking or something, it all comes down to who wants it the most. So, I think they’ve shown [more] character or great mindset than us, I don’t know, but it all comes down to who wants it the most.”
