Things have slightly changed this term as Pirates hold a three-point lead at the top of the log over Sundowns with 21 points, while Chiefs are still off the pace in eighth position with seven points from five games.
Speaking to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago, in edition 178 of the newspaper, Mashego said he is pleased to see the Soweto sides start the campaign the way they have and all it does is give his side some good pressure.
“I always say it’s always like that each and every season,” Mashego told iDiski Times.
“Teams have missions, they have goals, so they always believe that they will do better than us but like I said before it’s pressure on our side, but pressure is good for Sundowns.
“But to also see Orlando Pirates doing well and to see them in the CAF Champions League, it’s good for South African football. Also, for Kaizer Chiefs you see that they are doing well.
“It’s also good for South African football. It’s always good for us when we have competition because now, we know that we are playing competitive games in the domestic league. That will also help us in the CAF Champions League. For me it’s encouraging to see the teams doing well.”
