Richards Bay co-coach Papi Zothwane has expressed the danger of putting his charges under “immense pressure” ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates.
The Natal Rich Boys make the trip to the Orlando Amstel Arena as they look to complete a rare double over South Africa’s Soweto giants.
Zothwane’s troops have already claimed a huge scalp over Kaizer Chiefs after overcoming the Naturena-based outfit 1-0 at Umhlathuze Sports Complex last week to stretch their unbeaten run against Amakhosi at home to three years.
That result propelled them to within touching distance of the top eight bracket (ninth place) with 23 points after 19 matches.
Should the KwaZulu-Natal outfit upset the Buccaneers at home, they will replace TS Galaxy in eighth spot.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has thus asserted that they will not make it easy for Pirates but simultaneously remained humble about their approach.
“I don’t want to put ourselves under pressure, “Zothwane said on the club’s website.
“We will take the games as they come. Every game we play, we play to win, and we will certainly give them a good fight.”
This is the first time these two sides clash in the league this campaign though they did cross paths in the Carling Knockout semi-finals at Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2025.
Pirates were victorious on the day with Tshepang Moremi’s solitary 42nd-minute goal enough to take them through to the final.
