AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane believes Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has what it takes to reach the level of former Kaizer Chiefs star and fellow Zimbabwean Knowledge Musona.
Ngwenya has enjoyed a flying start to the 2026/27 season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in just four appearances across all competitions.
The 23-year-old joined Usuthu from FC Platinum at the start of last season and has since established himself as a regular in the KZN side.
Zwane is impressed by the 23-year-old’s hunger to score and says he will continue working on him, insisting that he is yet to reach his full potential.
“When you have a player like him that shows hunger…he’s still young, but he’s going to get to the level of the Musonas,” said Zwane.
“I’m his mentor, I’m his coach, I’m going to push him to that level. I want Thando when he goes to Zimbabwe, he should be treated like a Musona, like Billiat, like a Peter Ndlovu because he’s got that potential as a striker, he can score, he’s got goals in him.
“He’s not yet at his best right now because that injury took him out for a very long time and he came back, a little bit sluggish, but because he has goals in him, he’s a sniper, you know, so we’ll work on him.”
