Themba Zwane has revealed what he told Khanyisa Mayo about playing for Mamelodi Sundowns amid rumours linking the Cape Town City with the Brazilians.
Mayo, the son of former Kaizer Chiefs player Patrick Mayo, has been bandied about for the move to Sundowns.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at City at the beginning of last season, has been in good form for the Mother City club, scoring four league goals in 12 matches so far.
These four goals have seen him match his tally of last season, which has raised interest from Sundowns that he too might join the club in the next coming season.
“I told him that Sundowns is different and you need to be on top of your game each and every game that you play. You need to be consistent so that you can maintain your position,” said Zwane.
“I think he’s got the ability to play there.”

Mshishi, the older statesman at Downs with six league titles under his belt, says he has not been pleased with the form of his fellow attacker Siphesihle Mkhulise.
Mkhulise has divided opinions about his potential and has featured rarely this season and last term as well.
He was tipped to be one of the future stars for Sundowns and while at times he has shown that, including in the 4-0 win over Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label final when he scored one goal, his career has not taken off as many would’ve expected.
Zwane said Mkhulise has to look at himself in the mirror if he’s doing justice to himself.
“Last time I was talking to him, I said to him, ‘as a player, you need to look at yourself and be honest to yourself’,” Zwane added.
“He’s playing well and the only thing that is left from him is to score goals, create more goals, be consistent, that’s all.”
Sundowns will resume the DStv Premiership six league title chase also against Pirates post the FIFA World Cup on 30 December at Loftus Stadium.
