Al Ahly Sporting Director Sayed Abdelhafiz has laughed off Zamalek President Mortada Mansour’s claims that Pitso Mosimane was in talks to join the White Knights.
Mansour sensationally claimed after sacking Patrice Carteron that Mosimane’s wife and agent Moira was in talks with the club before he signed a new contract with the Red Devils that made him Africa’s highest-paid coach.
“I swear to god Pitso Mosimane’s wife [his agent Moira] was negotiating with Amir Mortada last month for him to coach Zamalek. But I told Amir not to do so because I respect Al Ahly’s fans,” he said on his Youtube Channel.
However, Abdelhafiz has questioned the logic behind it, stating that the ambition of Mosimane and the fact that Ahly came with an improved contract offers renders Mansours statements questionable.
“I won’t stop anyone from talking. But it doesn’t make sense, this is a coach who wants to win trophies, why would he want to join another team?” Abdelhafiz told MBC Masr (h/t) KingFut.
“Even from a financial point of view, we are talking about the highest-paid coach.”
Mosimane has won two CAF Champions League titles, CAF Super Cup, Egypt Cup and two bronze FIFA Club World Cup medals since his arrival from Mamelodi Sundowns in September 2020.
