Al Ahly Announce Starting XI For Chiefs
Pitso Mosimane has announced his Al Ahly starting XI to take on Kaizer Chiefs in the today’s CAF Champions League final.
The ‘Club of the Century’ are aiming to write history and become the first ever side to win the continental crown for a 10th time.
Al Ahly won the competition last season after beating Egyptian rivals Zamalek 2-1 in the final and could win consecutive finals for a third time, after 2005/06 and 2012/13.
They enter the game against Chiefs on the back of an 11-game unbeaten run. The Red Devils ended up victorious in nine out of their 13 finals overall so far.
Mosimane’s men have just lost one of their last 20 matches in the CAF Champions League (W13, D6), a 1-0 defeat against Simba during the group stages – it was also the only game they failed to score in this run.
Al Ahly have scored the most goals (18) and had the most shots in the competition this season, with a shot conversion rate of 14.3%.
Mosimane himself has won his two CAFCL finals he’s taken part in so far, lifting the trophy with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and with Al Ahly last season.
