Al Ahly have confirmed that Percy Tau is finally ready to take the pitch again after a recent ankle injury, putting doubts to bed that had fallen out with Marcel Koller.
Tau, 29, last featured for Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg against Simba SC. He was on the bench in the second but had since been absent from the squad, also missing Monday’s 2-1 Cairo Derby defeat to Zamalek.
There had been rumours that Tau has somewhat fallen out with Koller, but the club now confirmed that he was ruled out with an ankle issue.
“Ahmed Gab, the club’s first-team football doctor, said that Percy Tau has fully recovered from the injury he suffered and is ready to participate in the matches according to the vision of the technical staff led by Marcel Kohler,” the club stated.
“He added that Percy Tau was suffering from ankle pain that kept him from participating in the last matches, and he underwent a treatment program, and was now ready to participate in the matches normally.”
Al Ahly face TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi in their CAFCL semi-final first leg on Saturday. So far, Tau has only contributed to one goal in this year’s CAFCL campaign.
