One of Al Ahly’s board members has responded to claims that Kaizer Chiefs were “weak” CAF Champions League final opponents.
The ‘Club of the Century’ lifted their 10th CAF Champions League title after beating Amakhosi 3-0 in the final.
There have been several claims since that Chiefs were “weak” opponents, but Khaled El-Darandaly, one of Al Ahly’s board members has denounced those statements.
“Saying that Kaizer Chiefs are weak is nonsense. The final could go anywhere, a team that is weak could never reach the final,” he said, as per Kingfut.
El-Darandaly also praised South African coach Pitso Mosimane and insisted that he feels some SA teams want revenge on him.
“A great coach is the one who has the ability to win titles. Mosimane spoke to me earlier and expressed his happiness with the confidence he obtained from Al Ahly’s board,” he added.
“Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns are from South Africa, and both want to take revenge on Mosimane.
“I remember when we were in Sudan, Sundowns had a match the next day, so Al Ahly’s training was pushed earlier so that we could train on the main pitch.
“However, before we finished our training session, Sundowns arrived and there was a big argument.”
