All CAFCL 2nd Preliminary Round Fixtures Confirmed

After the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League was concluded, the second preliminary round ties gave been confirmed, with the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly entering the competition.

The latter will face Mbabane Swallows of eSwatini after they beat Ferroviario 1-0 on aggregate to book their place in the next round.

Sundowns, among Africa’s highest-ranked teams had a bye in the first round but will now face Swallows on 13 September (exact dates yet to be confirmed) away from home before welcoming them in Pretoria on 20 September.

Orlando Pirates set up another second preliminary round clash with Jwaneng Galaxy after both were in action in the first round. While the Buccaneers made light work of Madagascan side Disciples FC in the second leg to progress 4-0 on aggregate, Jwaneng needed penalties to beat African Stars from Namibia.

The Buccaneers will face Galaxy in Botswana in the first leg on 13 September and host them at home a week later.

Meanwhile, record champions Al Ahly will face Kenyan giants Ghor Mahia, who overturned a 1-0 first-leg defeat with a 5-1 thumping of Al Merreikh Juba.

Young Africans collected one of the biggest first preliminary round wins after hammering Vital’O FC from Burundi 10-0 on aggregate and will now the Bank of Ethiopia, while Fagrie Lakay’s Pyramids thumped Zanzibar’s JKU SCZ 9-1 on aggregate to set up a second preliminary round clash with Rwandan side APR.

Elias Mokwana’s ES Tunis will face Somalia’s Dekedaha, while Khanyisa Mayo’s CR Belouizdad will meet Douanes from Burundi.
