AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has revealed how Mamelodi Sundowns have helped his side to prepare for their CAF Champions League clash against TP Mazembe.
Usuthu will face the five-time champions at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday and McCarthy explained that his technical team were in touch with Masandawana after they faced the Congolese giants in the competition last season.
Downs beat Mazembe 2-1 away from home and also defeated them 1-0 at home, with McCarthy revealing that his analysts received some information from Downs.
“I think our analysts and their analysts guys have a good relationship, so they have been getting information and speaking to the analyst guys from Sundowns,” he told reporters.
“So we got some information, on what to do and what not to do. We have received quite a few clips and information from the analysts at Sundowns. That’s been helpful”
However, McCarthy also insisted that all the information will not help, if his players cannot pitch up at kick-off.
“But I for one want to gather my own experience and want the players to also make their own experience and memories,” he added.
“You can have all the information in the world ain’t going to help you win a football match, when your players don’t turn up and compete and fight.
“We can have all the information in the world but if your players are not ready then it all means nothing
“I want my players to make their own memories and own experiences, so with the information that we’ve gathered we put it out there and now we make our own history.”
