Wydad Coach Downtalks Chiefs Chances
A seemingly bitter Wydad Casablanca coach Faouzi Benzarti has insisted if Kaizer Chiefs would beat Al Ahly it would be a “stroke of luck”.
Amakhosi eliminated Wydad from the competition in the semi-final after beating them 1-0 on aggregate despite Benzarti’s team dominating proceedings in both games.
The 71-year-old has now rated Chiefs’ chances to lift the trophy against Al Ahly, saying they are far from winning.
“Kaizer Chiefs play defensively. They are most likely to start with 5-3-2 formation,” he said, as quoted by Kingfut.
“The South African club is far from winning, if they win it would be a stroke of luck or a coincidence, they can only play defensively.”
Benzarti pointed out Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro and Bruce Bvuma as Chiefs best performers.
“They have a striker called Nurkovic, a Colombian midfielder, and a very good goalkeeper, these are their squad’s best elements,” he added.
“Al Ahly should be careful of counter-attacks. Kaizer Chiefs have a fast build-up and they also use long-balls.”
Benzarti himself is one of the most traveled coaches on the continent and has lifted the CAF Champions League with Esperance de Tunis in 1994.
