The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the dates for next season’s Champions League and Confederation Cup with the preliminary rounds starting in the first week of September 2026.
With the focus slowly shifting back to club football ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, CAF confirmed the first preliminary round is scheduled for 4-6 September and 11-13 September, while the second round of the preliminaries is penned for October 16-18 and 23-25 October.
The group stage will commence in late November and go all the way to 22-24 January 2027, while the first matches of the knockout phase are scheduled for 26-28 February and set to conclude in the first week of March.
April will see the commencement and conclusion of the semi-finals stage with next year’s finals set for 9-31 May 2027.
Meanwhile the African governing body also announced that the prize monies for both competitions will remain at US$6m and US$4m respectively.
New Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates and holders of the Champions League Mamelodi Sundowns will represent South Africa in the Champions League, while Nedbank Cup winners Durban City and third place finishers in the league, Kaizer Chiefs will fly the flag in the Confederation Cup.
