‘CAFWCL Final Is Not About Bafana & Ghana’

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Jerry Tshabalala has played down comparisons between tonights CAFWCL final against Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and last weekend’s World Cup qualifier of Bafana Bafana and Ghana.

When the South African and Ghanaian clubs qualified for the final, there were a number of comments on social media talking about the match as ‘revenge’ for both sides following the controversial qualifier, where a dubious penalty saw Ghana win 1-0 and end Bafana’s hopes of going to Qatar.

While that match is now under review with FIFA, Tshabalala says he doesn’t see any revenge or comparisons to be made, and says women’s football has nothing to do with men’s football.

“Ja, I don’t like to compare the final to the World Cup qualifier against Ghana,” Tshabalalal told iDiski Times.

“I honestly don’t like that one.

“This is woman’s football, it has nothing to do with men’s football.

“So if people they want to do it that way, that’s their choice. But we are here to promote women’s football.”

Unlike Bafana’s World Cup qualifier, tonight’s final will have VAR. You can watch the game live on SuperSport 9 at 19:00.
