Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala is adamant that his charges can still reach the CAF Women’s Champions League semifinals despite their opening defeat.
The defending champions suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to debutants FC Masar in their Group B opener – the first time Banyana Ba Style lost a match at this stage since the tournament’s inception.
The five-time Hollywoodbets Super league champions are third on the log in the group without a point, behind Masar who occupy second position due to an inferior goal difference to that of first placed Edo Queens.
Tshabalala was stern in his words saying the two-time African champions need to show pedigree in their remaining group matches and qualify for the knockout phase.
“I guess for us it’s to go back to the drawing board,” said Tshabalala after the game.
“And dig deep because we still got two more games to play, and I believe we are still in it with a chance to bounce back.
“Now, it’s for us to show character that we are the real defending champions and come back strong and win the last two games and go through to the semis.
