Kekana Critical Of Lorch After CAFCL First leg

Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana believes a player of Thembinkosi Lorch’s quality should be more clinical in front of goal.

Kekana was the captain when Sundowns won their first and only CAF Champions League title in 2016 under Pitso Mosimane.

Nowadays, Kekana is still a regular on the Sundowns podcast and works as tv analyst for SABC.

He also analysed Sundowns’ 1-0 first semi-final first-leg defeat Esperance Sportive de Tunis on Saturday and insisted Lorch should’ve done better with the chance he had just after the break.

“If you recall, Lorch got the same chance against Yanga, where he missed from the there,” he said on SABC3.

“Against Swallows he got a chance and missed again.

“I’m counting all these chances because I don’t think he’s confident enough in front of goal up to so far since he Mamelodi Sundowns.

“He’s got two goals and that’s not good enough for a player like Lorch.”

So far, Lorch has scored three goals and set up one more since joining Masadawana on January Deadline day from Orlando Pirates.

Kekana, meanwhile, is familiar with losing the first leg of a CAFCL semi-final, as his 2016 generation lost 2-1 away from home against ZESCO United, before turning the tie around with a 2-0 home win.

Rulani Mokwena and his men need a similar performance on Friday when they will host four-time champions ES Tunis at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
