Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Egyptian giants Al Ahly will win this season’s CAF Champions League despite finishing second in Group C.
Ahly lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in their final group match in Cairo on Saturday with the latter topping the group unbeaten with 14 points having won four matches and drawing two.

But Khanye says the defeat to the Buccaneers doesn’t tell the real story about the 12-time African champions as their history and technical prowess backs them moving forward in the competition.
“The Al Ahly team is technically superior, their movement off the ball, their passing, the accuracy in the passing,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“I think this team will win this tournament the quality and the experience. I looked at the team that started [against Pirates], it’s not their regular team, still well done to Orlando Pirates because it’s not easy. I’ll give these boys credit this is a big achievement we can’t lie.
“Well done to [Jose] Riveiro for believing in young players that’s why I’m giving him credit, but Al Ahly is going to win the tournament especially with how they are playing currently. I think only in the second half that’s where they changed how they are playing, overloading the left side. That’s where they bring crosses, from the left but first half [Sipho] Chaine saved a ball coming from central.”
