Lekgwathi Makes Bold Downs Prediction

Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi is confident that Mamelodi Sundowns will be able to turn things around, in their CAF Champions League semi-final second leg against Esperance Sportive de Tunis in Pretoria on Friday.

Sundowns go into the encounter at Loftus stadium trailing 1-0 from the first leg away in Tunisia last week.

Lekgwathi, who was part of the Pirates side that reached the final of the CAF Champions League in 2013, believes Sundowns have built a good reputation on the continent with their consistency of playing in inter-continental competitions, saying Masandawana have built a reputation to get a result anywhere, whether home or away.

The 47-year-old also believes Sundowns will turn their tie against four-time winners ES Tunis around, but the main concern is to get Peter Shalulile firing again.

“Without a doubt Sundowns is the best team in South Africa,” Lekgwathi told iDiski Times.

“And if you check this is the only team that’s able to play against Northern Africa giants and East Africa. They are able to win and get a result.

“I played there, it wasn’t easy to go play away and come back with a point or a win. It was always difficult for us playing away but that’s easy for Sundowns for them to go away and actually play.

“They are used to playing in the Champions League, it’s like the league for them. They are not fearful of going to places like Egypt. I mean check how they play when they are away, their confidence is just as when they are here at home.

“The other good thing is that the second leg they are playing at home, at their slaughter house and to tell you the truth I have confidence they will win.

“They are definitely going to score because those boys can attack. The only thing is that they don’t have a natural striker. So far it’s Shalulile and I don’t know what’s happening with Shalulile’s performance.

“I also know that anyone in the team can score a goal, so I am confident that they can come out with a win”.
